Bhisho is situated in the Eastern Cape, South Africa and is part of the Amathole District. It was once the former capital of Ciskei and today the capital of the Eastern Cape. Bhisho is the Xhosa word for "Buffalo" the city is named after the river that runs through it. It was officially renamed from Bisho to Bhisho in March 2004.
Attractions and activities around Bhisho include wildlife and birdlife nature reserves like the Dwesa and Cwebe Nature Reserves and the Nelson Mandela Museum.
