Description:

Bayworld formerly the Port Elizabeth Museum depicts historic exhibits and local fossils. The main activities are research and education focusing on marine life, maritime and local history aimed at a greater awareness of the conservation of South Africa`s natural and cultural heritage.  Bayworld is the third oldest museum in South Africa, during World War II it supplied snake serum to the South African Institute for Medical Research to be used by the Allied Forces serving in snake-infested areas of Africa.
Bayworld hosts a variety of live animal displays, including seals, penguins, fish, snakes and crocodiles. It houses historical exhibits including shipwrecks, dinosaurs, Xhosa bead work, historical costumes and much more.
